Working for the Local Community

Ranskill Parish Council

The Parish Council is the most accessible tier of local government and is concerned with issues which affect the community. It comprises nine members (all unpaid volunteers) who are elected by the residents of the parish every four years.

Councillors work as a corporate body making decisions for the benefit of the community and the Parish Clerk implements these decisions. The Clerk also provides independent, objective, professional advice and information in addition to effective administrative support.

The main contacts are with Nottinghamshire County Council regarding highways, footpaths and associated issues, Bassetlaw District Council concerning planning and environmental matters, and other local bodies including the Police. The Parish Council organises the cutting of grass verges and green spaces in the village and is responsible for the village park, including the children’s playground.
